Krista Look has always been a student of pop culture. She has been extremely fortunate to turn her love of all things creative into a career as a media entrepreneur and Executive Producer in the world of Television. Her years at King City Secondary School, where she developed her love of Drama/Theatre, Music, English, Math and Computers, laid the foundation for what was to come for her professionally. Guidance from extraordinary people like Larry Lubin and Carol Wells (Drama & Stagecraft) – who were friends and teachers in equal measure – gave her the confidence to believe that she could accomplish all that she attempted. Being entrusted with lead roles in dramatic productions such as Thornton Wilder’s By The Skin of Our Teeth and Agatha’s Christie’s Appointment With Death, taught Krista that the world of production behind the scenes was just as fascinating as on-stage.

Travelling to the World’s Fair in Brisbane, Australia in 1988 to perform with the school concert and jazz bands broadened her horizons and whetted her appetite for seeing the world. Participating and excelling in University of Waterloo Math Contests under the leadership of Jim Johnson, Krista discovered that she was capable of and enjoyed exercising the left side of her brain, too.

Krista attended the University of Western Ontario (1990-1994) where she received a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English with a concentration in Film Studies. She was elected President of the Faculty of Arts and held a seat on the University Senate, representing Arts & Music. During her time at Western, she was encouraged by her film professors to pursue writing about film theory, but she was unsure how to translate that into a profession. After graduating, one of Krista’s first jobs was as a receptionist at a small Television and Media company in Markham, ON. Within 6 months, at the age of 22, she was producing videos and television shows for major Canadian Networks.

Since then, Krista has carved out a celebrated career as an Executive Producer, with a reputation as one of Canada’s foremost creators of innovative food and lifestyle television. From fashion and beauty to food to home décor, she finds joy in producing programs that contribute to making people’s lives a little bit better.

Her production companies have been responsible for Food Network programming such as the network’s flagship series, Christine Cushing Live, and the follow-up celebrity based program, Christine Cushing: Cook With Me. Krista was most recently responsible for revamping the direction of CBC Television’s daytime schedule, creating the daily talk-fest Steven and Chris, and two of Canada’s most popular food series, Best Recipes Ever and In The Kitchen with Stefano Faita.

Always open to new, interesting opportunities, in 2001, she took a brief hiatus from television to dabble in the world of film. As the Executive Assistant to actress Cate Blanchett, she travelled the west coast of the United States on the film Bandits (Bruce Willis, Billy-Bob Thornton) and then across England and France, shooting the 1940s spy thriller, Charlotte Gray.

Krista lives in Toronto with her talented husband and creative partner, David Childerhose. She is grateful for the never-ending support of her parents, Marion and Jack Look, as well as her brilliant brother, Blair.
